Muffet - Grey, Welsh cross Arab pony Pony Portrait painting by Andrew Hunt
Acrylic on canvas 21 x 30cm
Muffet was a 13hh, Welsh cross Arab pony - mostly used for show jumping alongside the hacking out and beach rides, and in her later years she was shown as a veteran. Described as a naughty, moody little pony who liked her own space, Muffet was also her owner's first pony, and deeply loved accordingly for twenty years long. Sadly Muffet is no more, and her owner's partner got in contact to arrange for a portrait (Surprise Christmas present) to be made from the photos he had available to him. Although the reference was quite limited, as the portrait was to be just A4 in size, I was able to create a suitable composition - with just a slight extension to the trot at the partner's request.
The owner's response: "I received my Christmas present today, a painting of my lovely grey pony who I lost this year, after 20 years of ownership. She was my best buddy and I miss her terribly. I just want to say thank you so much. You have captured her features so beautifully, it’s really very special and I will treasure it. There were many tears today, although happy ones! It really is incredible. Thank you for making my Christmas Day very special." Natacha
